4 Nayiga Nusiifa

2017
School: Other School
Class S6
Gender: Female
Age: 20 Years Old

Ambitions: Not know yet

Other Information: Feb 09 She now well compared to the last few months where she had developed chicken pox and its effect was really big. A number of children around her home had also been infected, but she is now ok. Nusiifa’s mother looked a little bit weak as she said she had just recovered from malaria. The rest of the children are ok, her step father Mr. Sunday is still riding bodaboda ( motocycles hired to carry people) She has grown taller and more responsible. Her mother says that she encourages her to do all the tasks assigned to her by her mother daily with out waiting to be asked. She loves to take care of all her young ones and her mum added; if she goes out, she feels very safe to leave the young ones with the care of Nusifa. As communicated before that the mother had given birth to twins, one of them died after having suffered from consistent malaria , yet they hadn’t sufficient medical care. But otherwise, she is well and we hope they will get on well through out this year. 02/12/2016 Nayiga is getting done with her final Examinations this month. When secondary school has been completed, there is always a thought of University. Since she is going to have this long holiday, She was advised to wisely think of something else to do to add value to her university studies according to our Counseling if she wishes to join and also help her mother during this long holiday.

22 Ziwa Furugyesio Wuga

2016
School: Masaka Secondary School
Class S6
Gender: Male
Age: 20 Years Old

Ambitions: Wants to become a business man

Other Information: Feb 09 They are all ok, they are very greatful for the sponsorship rendered to their son and they really appreciate the education that Ziwa is attaining at school. They (parents) trust that Ziwa would be of a great help as an elder son to their family when he grows older and especially through being responsible for his young ones. At the time of our visitation in their home (social workers) he was just on his way from the garden, with 2 jackfruits, cassava and beans, loaded on the bicycle. He is such a hard working boy. He has a great attachment to his father, they very often walk together and work together in the garden and he is a free boy. Last year in August was 12 years, his young sister whom he goes with at the same school- Josephine is 10,Melidah is now 8 and Immaculate is 3 now. She can now run and make noise all around the place. The mother says, she is a great joy to the whole family. 02/12/2016 Ziwa is finally done with his A' Level Examinations. When secondary school has been completed, students are sent to national training camp before going to either college, or military training but he has been given good confidential discussion counseling with the (LIA) social worker team we hope our Counseling will help him through. During this long holiday Ziwa and the family we hopefully think of something else to do to add value to his university studies if he wishes to join.

25 Najjemba Annet

2016
School: Kijjabwemi secondary
Class S4
Gender: Female
Age: 19 Years Old

Ambitions: She wants to become a lawyer.

Other Information: March 09 She lives with an Aunt and her husband. She is being cared for very well and she looks healthy. Her aunt had 12 children all of them are still alive though she lives with only 4 of them, others live with their relatives and others live on their own as they were married off at a very early age due to the hard circumstances that they were going through. This Auntie has no source of income but entirely depends on farming and her husband. Annet lost her mother at the age of 8 and these memories are still very fresh in her life. In fact, a couple of days ago, we (social workers) were doing home visits around Kyetume when we realized that some one had died in the area. Traditionally, it's respectful for local people to attend a burial ceremony regardless of whether you know the deceased or not, as long as they reside in that same locality. So we had to go up for burial with Annet, since we work with in the same area. As the young girl over the death of her dear mother, covered in tears, Annet took my hand-looked in my eyes and said, I was exactly like that when my mother died, people were all around me, trying to stop me from screaming, I could not believe that I was not to see my mother again, but now I feel sorry for that girl too, because she is now like me. I was so thrilled by her narration, we encouraged her, she became cheerful again and I trust that God is helping her get over it as time goes on. However, she has a good relationship with her Auntie. Some of her jobs at home are, fetching water and tiding the compound. 05/12/2016 Najjemba is done with her O’ Level Examinations and she is very happy that she is done. When senior four is completed, there is always a thought of A’ level and then University. But we hope that Najjemba and her grandmother plus other family members will help her to choose wisely and according to our Counseling, we hope she will be able to do something better. Annet was advised to stay home, to avoid bad peers that can lead her into temptations and also to obey her grandmother by helping her around with domestic work since it is a long holiday.

70 Mutoni Sylvia

2016
School: Nkoni St joseph
Class S4
Gender: Female
Age: 18 Years Old

Ambitions: She wants to become a health worker.

Other Information: Feb 09 A week before we visited her home, she was ill with malaria and was rushed to the hospital but now she’s ok. Slyvia’s dad is called Mugisha Edward and the mother is Kayitesi. They live in Kyetume, which is of a great help to Sylvia. Sylvia is the first child, followed by Caesar, then Irene and Stella. They are all nice looking and lovely children. They have 1 cow at home. March 09 Currently Sylvia is well unlike in the past few days when she was so sick, suffering from malaria. The rest of her family is well and healthy. Both parents are still alive and stay together. They still do the farming and carry on with their small shop to sustain their family. Sylvia is growing taller and she has become more assertive. She loves asking lots and lots of questions-and she will never leave without being answered appropriately. As the big girl, she assumes a lot of responsibility over her young siblings, and one could easily see this especially at school since she goes to the same school as them. She belongs to a culture which is well known for cattle keeping in Uganda (Banyankole) they normally keep herds of cattle, although her parents can't afford to have all these, they only have one cow which was given to them by a friend. But Sylvia says, when she grows up, she wants to be a rich lady, owning heads and heads of cattle so that her family will always have enough to give away especially for her young brother's dowry. 'I enjoyed her story as we had a chat over this in the presence of her mum'. 02/12/2016 Sylvia is done with her O’ Level Examinations. When senior four is completed, there is always a thought of A’ level and then University. But we hope that Sylvia and the family members will help her to choose wisely and according to our Counseling, we hope she will be able to choose something better. Since it is a long holiday, she was told to help her parents.
