Water comes to Kasaka!
In January 2011 there was great excitemment in Kasaka as 2 large lorries pulled up at the school, this was the drilling crew arriving to drill a bore hole to provide fresh clean water for the school.
After struggling for nearly a week to move the rig to the back of the school property across sandy soil that sank under the weight of the lorry finally drilling started. Our consultant said the the borehole should be 100m deep and 6" wide.
Water was found at 60, 80 and 90m deep and then granite rock at 100m. The water currently is good and just slightly cloudy.
During 2011 we hope to install a water tank and solar pump to replace the hand pump currently in use.
